This photo was taken out near Pioneer Park here in Billings with the intention to capture the contrast between the fall leaves and the blue sky but after some editing, I was pleased with how the greyscale made this landscape more abstract.

This photo was taken by the Indian Cliffs as a close up of a random bush for practice with depth of field. The cloudy, grey background offers a good contrast to the green and lighter blues of the bush exaggerating the contrast and ultimately the depth of field.

This photo was taken at sunset near the sanctuary on Shiloh here in Billings. The intention was to capture the main subject with a background subject not in focus. The placement of the ducks is strategic to leave room in the direction they are both looking. The sunset also shines in the direction the ducks are looking exaggerating the effect to an even greater extent.

This photo was also taken at the sanctuary on Shiloh here in Billings but with the intention of working on composition. The crop is non-standard and can be surrounded by either a black or white border. The main subject is on the left but offers varying levels of depth of field.

This photo also works on depth of field and highlights the sublime sunset while casting a mask of blurry over the backdrop, only leaving the very front of the photo in focus. Taken around sunset with the ducks not a subject.

Taken in Yellowstone National park, this photo was taken just as Ol' Faithful was erupting. I do wish I had left some more room on top and did not unintentionally crop out some of the spout but in black and white, the geyser is in high contrast to everything else in the picture drawing the audience quickly to the subject.

This photo also works on depth of field while capturing a relatively faster stream. The f/11 is justified by not necessarily focusing on depth of field but rather how to contrast to different subjects at different speeds and showing that perspective.

The pine needles of a near by pine tree in Billings. This picture was cropped down to keep the corners relatively clean. The blurry background helps the audience focus on the subject while the sharp color contrasts adds to the effect.

The Rims, here in Billings, are paired with the sparse farm and suburban background with a gradient transitioning the viewer out of the picture through the sky. With this picture being an obvious landscape, I used f/16 and ISO400 to try and capture as much detail as possible.

The orientation of this road in Yellowstone National Park is deliberate to draw attention to the road and ultimately to the center (lightest colored) part of the picture. With a gradient at the top of the picture to darken it (similar to the bottom) the road acts as a leading line towards the subject of the photo.

This photo captures the suns rays in Yellowstone National Park. Editing the originally colored brown pond blue, this landscape was taken at f/11 and ISO125 for detail conservation. This picture is cropped as far out as possible.

This photo was taken at f/4.0 for that dramatic depth of field effect. If I could change something about this landscape, it would be the crop. Unfortunately, the far right of the picture is as far out cropped as possible.

This photo was taken on our first morning in Yellowstone National Park. I was attempting in editing to silhouette the foreground to really allow the sunset in the background to pop.

This photo was taken near Shiloh crowding of some hay at sunset. The composition was taken to allow the road to guide the viewer as a leading line towards the subjects of the hay and sunset. The editing was one during the very first week of the semester to show just how much I've grown.

This photo is composed to include the hill and the sunrise to add definition to the clouds after the dark of the morning. The shutter speed is 1/13 to allow more time for that light to add detail to the clouds, was the hope.

If I could do one thing over, the focus on this picture is wrong but I still appreciate how accurate the colors are as well as the detail in the stick that is in focus. Not much editing was done beyond just the basics.

This picture was also taken towards the beginning of the semester to work on depth of field, the reason behind the lower f-stop. I also felt that the editing really brings out the colors appropriately.

This photo has been cropped significantly to remove some of the house from the right of the picture but also to keep the subject towards the center fo the picture. Again, working on depth of field so we have a lower f-stop.

I felt that this picture captures exactly what was there with definitive colors but the f-stop felt high in editing. Overall, I am happy with the way this photo turned out really showing a barren almost wasteland area.

This picture used a little different editing from the usual to try an add a different feeling for the user. I used less contrast to have a more uniform look throughout the picture. I also used ISO 100 to retain as much detail as possible.

After multiple tries in editing, I still feel like the sky is too blue. I tried gradients and even the brush but I also don't want to lose the detail in the steam and the ground that varies in color.

This photo is similar to the other sunrise picture but with a few different settings to play around with in editing and I was satisfied with how it turned out with the still silhouetted foreground and very detailed background.

This photo works with shutter speed to try and make the water appear more silky. The result looks good for a 1/10 shutter speed. A little higher shutter speed and I feel that I could make the effect more dramatic but this turned out fine in my opinion.

Finally, the last picture was also taken in Yellowstone National Park with the emphasis on the trees and the clouds. I reduced contrast to make the feeling a little more uniform and unique.
